Part of the river Amazonas located among the mouths of the rivers Javari and Negro,
is known by the denomination of Solimões. It presents an extension of 1.620Km, between the municipal districts of Manaus and Tabatinga. The connection between the ports of Manaus and Tabatinga is made, in the period of high waters (February to June) with 8m of depth being reduced in the dryness (July to October), to depths inferior to 4m. The cities of Coari and Tefé have port facilities. These two ports of the river Solimões, has its accesses in immobilities or lakes, formed by arms of the river Solimões, with depths of minimum waters of 4,0 m. During the critical period of dryness this depth doesn't surpass 3,0 m. |
