nomenclatura das rodovias federais é definida pela sigla BR, que significa
que a rodovia é federal, seguida por três algarismos. O primeiro algarismo
indica a categoria da rodovia, de acordo com as definições estabelecidas no
Plano Nacional de Viação: • 0 (zero) rodovias radiais – são as rodovias que partem da Capital Federal em direção aos extremos do país; • 1 (um) rodovias longitudinais – são as rodovias que cortam o país na direção Norte-Sul; • 2 (dois) rodovias transversais. – são as rodovias que cortam o país na direção Leste-Oeste; • 3 (três) rodovias diagonais – estas rodovias podem apresentar dois modos de orientação: Noroeste-Sudeste ou Nordeste-Sudoeste; • 4 (quatro) rodovias de ligação – estas rodovias apresentam-se em qualquer direção, geralmente ligando rodovias federais, ou pelo menos uma rodovia federal à cidades ou pontos importantes ou ainda à nossas fronteiras internacionais. |

| The nomenclature of the federal highways is defined by acronym BR, that it means that the highway is federal, followed for three numbers. The first number indicates the category of the highway, in accordance with the definitions established in the National Plan of Means of transportation: • 0 (zero) radial highways - they are the highways that leave of the Federal Capital in direction to the extremities of the country; • 1 (one) longitudinal highways - they are the highways that cut to the country in the direction North-South highway; • 2 (two) transversal highways. - they are the highways that cut to the country in the direction East-West; • 3 (three) diagonal highways - these highways can present two ways of orientation: Noroeste-Sudeste or Northeast-Southwest; • 4 (four) highways of linking - these highways are presented in any direction, generally binding federal highways, or at least one federal highway to the cities or important points or still to our international borders. | ||||
